Apparently, beer is great for writer’s block if you’re a young mouse. At least, according to a recent scientific study, anyway. Researchers found that when young mice consumed huge amounts of beer (in mice terms), a flavonoid in beer named xanthohumol may have improved cognitive function in the little rodents’ brains. Older mice didn’t enjoy the same benefit, but I can tell you old writers have used beer to beat writer’s block for centuries. Just a thought. The study ran in Behavioral Brain Research.
