Condiment is a word that describes a sauce or seasoning added to food after it has been prepared. Common condiments include salt, pepper, butter, ketchup, vinegar and dried herbs. Different cultures have their own condiments that help to enhance or improve the flavor of local dishes, including hot sauces. This is why you can enter hot sauces into the condiment categories for the 2020 Scovie Awards.

For the 2020 Scovie Awards, we have added 18 new categories, with ten of those in the hot sauces. We have consolidated the Soups & Stews and Chili con Carne categories and expanded the Jams & Jellies category.
